Nancy A. Flynn
Nancy A. Flynn passed away peacefully on Monday, May 31, 2022 after battling pancreatic cancer for several months. She was born to Francis “Frank” and Pauline Scheckenbach in Bridgeton, NJ on August 12, 1945. Growing up on the farm, she was given a piano at a young age and as a teenager played piano and l organ at the Bridgeton Immaculate Conception Catholic. Church. She attended Trenton State College and in 2018 earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Ave Maria and Barry University in History and Political Science. Nancy retired from the United States government as a GM-15, serving her country patriotically for 32 years. Nancy was a master gardener and later associate organist at St. Andrews since 2006. At St. Andrews, Nancy was a member of the finance committee, a benefactress of St. Andrews School, and a member of the Southwest Florida Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. She has long resided in Springfield, VA, Elizabeth City, NC and Cape Coral, FL. She enjoyed music, travel and the arts, gardening, cooking, driving sports cars, politics, her dogs and cats, and many other simple pleasures. She is survived by her beloved son Scott Flynn and her sweetheart Katy Alston. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Florida Cancer Specialists and Hope Hospice Team 320 for all of their support. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 10, 2022 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Cape Coral, Florida. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions could be made to Wounded Warriors, Paws of Honor, Project K9 Hero, Orphaned Acres, ASPCA or Humane Society.
