Saint Photios Greek Orthodox National Shrine Welcomes Community on Third Annual Christmas Open Day

St. Augustine, Florida – The Greek Orthodox National Shrine of St. Photios in St. Augustine, Florida hosted hundreds of supporters, friends and visitors from across the country during its 3rd annual Christmas Open House which took place held on Sunday 12 December.

Despite the restrictions and the Covid-19 pandemic, the holiday atmosphere, joy and celebration were enjoyed by all.

Polexeni Maouris Hillier, Executive Director of St. Photios Shrine, said: “There was so much good fellowship and continued good feedback during the event.

The Right Reverend Archimandrite Maximos Politis, pastor of Holy Trinity Church in St. Augustine, FL, assisted by Reverend Deacon Athanasios Kartsonis, offered the opening prayer and ceremonies. Four talented young Greek folk dancers, dressed in traditional Greek costumes from the St. John the Divine Dance Troupe, livened up historic St. George Street with a number of traditional folk dances.

The Saints Anargyroi Philoptochos Society of Saint John the Divine Church in Jacksonville, Florida sponsored the event, which was co-chaired by Effie Lasoff and Olga Farhat.
