Henry J. Herzog, 90, Jasper
Henry J. Herzog, 90, of Jasper, Indiana, died at 7:40 a.m. on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at his home.
Henry was born in Jasper, Indiana on June 20, 1931 to Joseph A. and Theresa (Schnell) Herzog. He married Mildred “Ann” Greubel on April 28, 1973 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dale, Indiana.
He was a US Army veteran who served in the Korean War and was a member of VFW Post # 673 in Jasper.
Henry retired from Jasper Seating Company in Jasper and previously worked for Ackerman Oil and Hoosier Desk Company. He was also a long-time farmer.
He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church and the Ireland Sportsman’s Club.
Henry loved farming and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving is his wife, Mildred “Ann” Herzog of Jasper; two sons, Tony Herzog (Kerry), Jasper and Andy Herzog, Arlington, TX; one daughter, Beth Herzog Schmidt (Brad), Jasper; five grandsons, Conner and Camryn Herzog, Kaiden, Mason and Hutton Schmidt; two sisters, Mary Ann Armstrong, Jasper, and Theresa Mundy, Jasper.
Prior to her death there were two sisters, Alberta “Bert” Mervin and Agnes Schnarr, and one brother, Roman Herzog.
A Christian Burial Mass for Henry J. Herzog will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, with the entombment to follow at the Mausoleum of Fairview Cemetery in Jasper. VFW Post # 673 will conduct military rites at the graves.
A visit will take place from 9:00 a.m. until mass at 11:00 a.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church on Tuesday.
Masks are strongly encouraged for the visit and for Mass.
