STRUTHERS – Donald Thomas Morell Sr., 86, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday morning, December 16, 2021. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He has lived all his life in Struthers.

Donald was born to Peter and Esther Morell on September 3, 1935. After graduating from Struthers High School, Donald went to work as a truck driver and then in the steel mills of Youngstown.

He met his beloved wife, Mary, at a dance hall in Struthers. They married on July 28, 1956.

Donald enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, telling stories, and watching football and NASCAR on Sundays. An active hunter and fisherman, Donald owned a hunting lodge in Pennsylvania and spent a lot of time there with friends and family. He loved being outside and worked at Countryside Farm after he retired from the steel mills.

Donald leaves his wife, the former Mary Fabry; four children, Peter (Judi Armile), Donald Jr. (Diane Walcott), Joan and Toni (Tom Root); 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Catherine in December 2017. He was also predeceased by his parents, Peter and Esther Morell; and a sister, Alice Morell.

Friends will be received from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers. A prayer service will be held at 9:15 a.m. on Monday, December 20, 2021, at the funeral home, followed by a Christian burial mass at 10 a.m., at the Christ Our Savior parish of the Saint-Nicolas Roman Catholic Church, with the father . Martin Celuch officiating.
