Catholic school board seeks nominations for commissioner positions

WATERLOO REGION – The Catholic School Board is seeking candidates to fill two director positions representing Kitchener and Wilmot.

The vacancies were created when Waterloo Catholic District school trustees Greg Reitzel and Kevin Dupuis recently resigned.

Under the Education Act, the board of directors must undertake a process to find qualified individuals to fulfill the remainder of the directorships.

The board follows tradition in fulfilling these roles through an application and a public interview process.

At the end of the public interview process, the sitting directors vote to select the successful candidates.

Applicants must provide a signed resume and confirmation of their qualifications by August 23 to the school board. Interviews will take place on August 30.

The provincial requirements for applicants are as follows:

  • A candidate must be a Canadian citizen of at least 18 years of age and a resident of the Waterloo region.
  • A baptized Roman Catholic who appears as an English-speaking supporter of the Roman Catholic school board on the municipal assessment list.
  • Applicants cannot be employees of the school board or any other district school board or school authority in Ontario.
